Biographies
Brian (keyboards, vocals):
Brian’s first musical memory was screwing up his
year end recital piece at Mrs. Young’s piano
emporium. It’s been uphill since then. Memorable
60’s Regina rock bands such as: “Rock Anderson
and the Fireballs” “Partially Electric, Psychedelic,
Acid-Rock, Jug and Junk Band” “C-Quence” and
“Spectrum” have solidified Brian’s place at the
centre of rock and roll mediocrity
Leaving Regina for Kingston in the 70’s brought significant changes to Brian’s
musical life. He now drank Molson Ex and Blue at gigs instead of Pil. Kingston,
introduced acoustic guitar, banjo and violin to Brian’s musical lineup. The
university scene afforded him the time to skip classes and play tunes all day.
Many, wonderful big-city eastern musicians can still be counted as friends today.
Like most 70’s musicians, the decade was a blur – Clapton, Who, Stones,
Beatles…pop music came of age, and the musical skill followed.
The 80’s and 90’s, in Calgary, were a struggle. Brian’s gig as father, corporate
accountant and part time musician brought ultimatum’s that led to musical
obscurity. He traveled the party-band scene with “Skyliner”, “The Middle Earth
Band” and “Class Axe” on a part time basis.
The new millennium has allowed Brian to establish his “Jazzy, Bluesy, Southern
Fried 70’s Rock sound” to a new level. Meeting Charlie and Cate at a Brian
McCullough jam in ’06 ushered in an opportunity to play some great tunes with
some great people. The Vagabond Blonde band are now like a family.
