Biographies
Finally settling in Calgary, after traveling through Europe with a band of drug smugglers and
Eurotrash, Cate went underground for most of the eighties and nineties to indulge in two bad
marriages, raise her three children and study Native American Shamanism.
It was again Cate's father who sparked the beginnings of Vagabond Blonde when he suffered a
severe stroke in 2004 and Cate decided that the best way to honour him was to make herself happy
and do what she always wanted to do: sing. Within a week of her fathers stroke, she was on stage at
Brian McCulloughs Jam and shortly thereafter Cate met Charlie and the band grew and flourished
from that chance meeting. "I love what we are doing" Cate says "I love these talented, fun guys that
let me get up and do my thing - it is never too late to do what you love - life is a daring adventure
or nothing at all!"
Amen.

Cate (vocals, guitar and shaky things):
Born and raised in a band of newfie gypsies, Cate travelled
throughout Canada during the sixties & seventies, often
hitchhiking, doing odd jobs and listening to Dylan, the Stones,
Zeppelin and Grace Slick.
As a little girl, Cate's father introduced her to the magic of
music with frequent trips to Sam the Record Man on Yonge
Street in Toronto where he purchased her first 45's and her first
LP's which included Neil Young's "Harvest", Rod Stewart's
"Every picture tells a story" and Janis Joplin's "Pearl". Cate's
father also gave her her first guitar; an acoustic six string,
which he had tried to learn to play himself but discovered he
"hadn't come away with the gift". Cate had the family gift and
soon played and sang for anyone who would listen to her,
always planning to put a band together and even getting close
a couple of times, and says "I'm not sure what happened...".
